Reserved for a final draft. Your manuscript should have gone through one or more rounds of editing before this step. Proofreading checks basic grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting issues before publication.
COMPREHENSIVE EDITING: Price Per Word: $0.015 (That’s $150 per 10,000 words)
Provides the detailed editing your manuscript needs, short of major rewrites. Edits include:
- Correcting basic grammar, punctuation, spelling
- Moderate rewriting of unclear or unpolished sentences and paragraphs
- Fixing passive voice
- Addressing readability and flow
- Pointing out or fixing inconsistencies
- Eliminating wordiness
- Basic fact checking (URLs, scripture references, etc.)
- A written report of the manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses
DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING: Price Per Word: $50 to $80 per 2500 words
Helps develop very raw, early draft texts and is concerned with content development, structure, and heavy rewriting. Use this option if you have all your thoughts down but need help organizing it, adding content, or making your writing clear. Visit the Developmental Editing page for more details.
